Cricket or Tennis?

Cricket or Tennis?

This week is the time for cricket. There is a lot going on for this sport in both sexes including the ongoing women’s world cup, and the second test for South Africa versus England. The second and final week of Wimbledon will also be taking place along with the beginnings of the World Para Athletics Championships. Lastly, anyone with a need for speed will be happy to see some Formula 1 action on the weekend.

Big Tests in the Cricket world

The 10th of July sees the last day for the First Test between South Africa and England. One of three five-day tests, the next takes places later in the week. The Second Test starts on the 14th of July and continues for five days until the 18th. This one will be held at Trent Bridge. The Women’s World Cup has also been underway for the better part of a month. Starting on 24th June it runs until 23rd July. This year it is the eleventh edition of the tournament. Eight teams have qualified to participate. The teams will undergo seven games each thus playing against all other teams before the top qualifying teams will reach the semifinals and then the final on 23rd July.

Excelling in Sports

The 14th July marks the beginning of the ten days that is the World Para Athletics Championships. Held in London, athletes from around the world will be competing in a wide variety of track and field events. Offering 213 medals with about 1300 athletes competing, this is looking to be a spectacular ten days of competition.

Hitting the ball

This week is also the last week of the prestigious Wimbledon Tennis tournament. It is one of the most sort after wins in the tennis world, particularly the single title for the men. During this second week, things begin to ramp up towards the Men’s Singles final that is held on 16th July in Centre Court. Who will be this year’s champion?

Fast and Furious

The last day of this week has the British Grand Prix taking place at Silverstone. Last year British driver Lewis Hamilton took the race but finished an overall second in the Drivers Championships. Maybe he can do one better this year.

A little bit of a break for sports fans in the coming week. The Women’s World Cup continues culminating in the final and there is a Golf tournament in the form of The Open beginning at the end of the week.
