Immortals – Serious Contenders for the Title

Immortals, made up of a roster of Brazilian players, are currently ranked 7th in the world. The team had seen a steady rise in performance throughout the year resulting in a high of sixth. However, a good performance in the PGL Major Krakow still saw them lose in the Grand Final to Gambit in a highly contested game.

Origins and Shake Ups

From the United States, this team was created in 2015 and founded after buying the NA LCS of Team 8 and is co-owned by the Memphis Grizzlies and Linkin Park. They now have teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Super Smash Bros and Vainglory as well as CS:GO. The current team is the result of Immortals gaining the full team of Tempo Storm in 2016. The team immediately went on to win DreamHack Summer 2016. After this though they saw mixed results with a few wins but also losses along the way. At the end of 2016 the team saw a shakeup in the roster. The beginning of 2017 saw more team changes, and this latest seems to have done wonders as the team is now once again on the rise, and this current Brazilian line up is now the second highest achieving Brazilian team in this game, bar SK Gaming.

The Players

The team holds a number of young players but their talent more than outweighs their lack of time spent in the game. First is Lucas “steel” Lopes the in-game leader. He has a natural leading ability that automatically pulls the game to another level. He is instrumental in keeping the other members motivated to continue to practice and improve. Ricardo “Boltz” Prass is very competitive. At just 20 years old he has only been playing since 2014 and is still growing and improving, however, throughout all the game challenges he displays great ability to adapt to new situations.

Vito “kNgV” Giuseppe is another young player; he only recently transferred taking the place of team veteran fnx. He has been key in propelling the team forward, particularly in the success of reaching the PGL Major Krakow finals. Henrique “HEN1” Teles keeps the team together and has the ability to see the positives even in the losses, keeping moral high. He has played the games since Counter-Strike 1.6 bringing huge amounts of experience to the team. Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles is the twin of “HEN1”, and like his brother has been playing since CS: 1.6. A level-headed man, he is a force to be reckoned with and not to be underestimated even with his more upbeat demeanour.

A potentially formidable team, their cohesiveness will work well in their favour.
