Leicester in CL, interesting games coming up in the Championship, this weekend’s PL matches

We got at least one British team in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, plus one to the next stage of the Champions League. The weekend is approaching us with one of England’s best derbies, and one top game in each of the two top divisions.

Leicester goes on

At this time last year, it still seemed too good to be true that Leicester was going to win the Premier League. This year it seems too good to be true to believe that they can go all the way in the Champions League as well, and they probably will not. But the fact is that they are the only English team after winning 3-2 on aggregate against Sevilla. 2-0 at home on Tuesday just gave them that victory, but it could have ended very different if Kasper Schmeichel had not saved a poorly taken penalty by Steven Nzonzi. Manchester City got knocked out on away goals after losing 3-1 away to Monaco the following day. 6-6 on aggregate shows that we had two entertaining games, but that does not help us much. Manchester United is also ready for the next round after beating Rostov 2-1 on aggregates.A good weekend in the Championship

The division below the Premier League deserves a special mention this weekend as there are a great number of very interesting games coming up. It starts tonight with Bristol City-Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday-Reading. The former game is a game between a candidate for relegation and a candidate for promotion. Huddersfield is now only six points behind Brighton with one game less played, so things could get very uncomfortable for Brighton this weekend. This is especially true, as they will face Leeds on Saturday at 5:50 in another top game. Sheffield Wednesday-Reading is a game between two teams that are looking to consolidate themselves in the playoff area. The last nine games in The Championship will be very interesting!

One of England’s best derbies

We had the Old Firm last weekend. This weekend’s derby does not quite match that one in intensity, but Nottingham Forest-Derby is still one of the absolute best derbies in the entire country, and it will be on from 1 o’clock on Saturday. Derby looked like they might be fighting for a promotion, but they have probably lost their chances at that by now, while Nottingham Forest is actually struggling for survival in the Championship this season. You do not want to miss this one.

Premier League

The Premier League of this weekend will open with West Bromwich-Arsenal tomorrow. It will not be too many games between direct rivals from the same area of the table in this round, but there are some. Bournemouth-Swansea at 5:30 tomorrow is one of them, where we will see two teams who wants to get as far away from the relegation zone as possible. The biggest game of the round is clearly the one scheduled for 4:30 on Sunday, when Liverpool is facing Manchester City.
