Something for Everyone

Something for Everyone

The week brings a little excitement back to the world of sports. International favourites such as football and rugby will fuel the fire of the fans, and the stunning display of horse and horsemanship will delight across all ages.

Super League Grand Finals

Rugby is not a game for the faint hearted, especially the finals of the Betfred Super League XXII where twelve teams compete in 23 rounds. The top eight teams enter the super league playoffs for the place in the final. The exciting final is scheduled to be held on the 7th of October in the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford, Manchester. This year marks the 22nd season of the Super League. The event is an 80 minute sporting extravaganza and adding to the mood is a celebrity DJ and live band with star performers such as Charlatans, James and Feeder. The excitement and tension that grips the spectators is something that needs to be experienced live by rugby enthusiasts, though if you can’t get to the matches then the televised broadcasts are just as thrilling. Two matches per week have already been telecast live through Sky Sports which has been handed over a five year contract to telecast these matches.

This year France is the only team to participate that comes from outside of England, and North England tops the list with eleven teams. Six teams are from Lancashire while five teams are from Yorkshire.

Football: FIFA 2018 Qualifiers

Though the sporting event is not held in the UK the hearts of UK football fans will still be beating wildly as the excitement for the football world cup starts to build with these qualifiers. The events, which will be held in different venues across Russia, features Scotland against Slovakia, England against Slovenia, and Northern Ireland against Germany on October 5th. On October 8th Norway is pitted against Northern Ireland, England plays against Lithuania, and Scotland plays against Slovenia.

A Sprinkle of Something Extra

If football isn’t your fancy, the ASA National County Swimming Championships are to be held in Sheffield on October 8th. For people who are interested in athletics, the Chicago Marathon is to be held on the 8th of October. And for the less athletic among you, the World Darts Grand Prix is scheduled to be held between October 1st and 7th in Dublin.

And lastly, equestrian lovers are in for a treat between October 4th and 8th when the Horse of the Year show is held in NEC Birmingham.
