Today’s Fixture – Wales-Portugal

In their first attempt, Wales has already matched the best performance of England, their fiercest rival. If they beat Portugal and reach the final of the Euro 2016 it would be considered a tremendous accomplishment.

Portugal’s team have their own motivation as well. Only once have they reached the final of the European Championship, at home in 2004. They lost that final to Greece, and that title is probably the most shocking one that has ever been awarded in the history of the European Championship.

One should be aware that there are two mayor suspensions for today’s match. The biggest loss is on the side of Wales. They lack Aaron Ramsey, who’s the top assist man together with Belgian Eden Hazard so far in the Euros. This is just as serious as it would be for them to lack Gareth Bale for this game. Portugal is lacking William Carvalho. He’s played all games except one and been one of their key players. The loss for Portugal isn’t as great as it is for Wales, but still very serious.

I’ll be very surprised if any of these teams want to go to this game with a defensive approach, as both of them has defensive weaknesses. The game has every chance of being a very entertaining one.
