Today’s Fixtures – Tuesday 14. June14th Jun 2016 |
There will be only two matches today, Austria-Hungary and Iceland-Portugal. Both of these teams are together in group F, and their matches will mark the end of the first round of the initial stages.
Austria-Hungary is first up. The two nations, who used to be united in one country, are some of the least known teams in the championship. Many experts also consider Hungary to be one of the weakest teams in the tournament – while Austria has a potential for surprise. The most famous player on the Austrian team is David Alaba, who’s done well enough in Bayern Munich. We expect Hungary to start off in a defensive manner and try to counter in a goal.
The biggest surprise out of the qualification rounds was Iceland, and many of us are very excited to see how they will cope in this huge game against Portugal. All common sense tells us that this should be a walk in the park for Portugal, but the same was true for Iceland’s matches against Turkey and Netherlands in the qualification stages. They ended up beating them both and winning the group. It’ll be very exciting to see if they can keep up this fight in the tournament ahead.
