Tottenham win against Chelsea, Bournemouth 3-3 Arsenal, Swansea’s first win in eight matches

The excitement continues

The excitement we had the pleasure of witnessing during the New Year’s weekend is still very much alive in the Premier League world. The matches played this week were nothing less than game changing and breath-taking. In other words: just as it should be. The football world is much like the showbiz world, with the high profiled celebrities, drama and the cheering crowds. Football has grown to be one of the world’s most popular sports today, and we are loving every second of it. A lot has happened during this week, and it is mandatory to discuss these events.

Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

Yep, that’s right. The table’s great leader has now met Tottenham, and had to go home with a 2-0 defeat. Tottenham is now in third place on the table, which is a big game changer for Premier League. Chelsea is still on top, but it is now clearer than ever that they need to really stay focused in the future. The Blues had the chance to break the record with 14 victories in a row, but Tottenham took that away from them. Tottenham had only two shots on target, and both went in, whereas none of Chelsea’s got in. No doubt Tottenham’s boss Mauricio Pochettino is proud of his team, and acknowledges that these three points were very important. It’s now going to be interesting to see how Tottenham is going to fight to be in the top three, and with this new confidence, they might just make it.Bournemouth 3-3 Arsenal

This match was most certainly one of the most interesting ones, as Bournemouth was the leading team for a while – until Arsenal fought like the heroes they are and evened the score at the end. However, this did not help them move up the table – they are now in fifth place, and has fallen two places down since Monday. It looks quite dangerous for our friends right now, with Tottenham being as strong as ever and a lot of competition in the top. Arsenal needs to stay focused in the future and catch up with eight points to climb up to Chelsea.

Swansea City 2-1 Crystal Palace

Although the fight in the top is the most interesting one, let us not forget the ones who are fighting teeth and claws at the bottom of the table. Swansea City had the pleasure to take down Crystal Palace this Tuesday, with a 2-1 victory. This win moved them up to 19th place on the table, which still is a dangerous place to be, but might give the Swans some hope. Crystal Palace had a three-point gap down to Swansea, so this win is an achievement worth noticing. Swansea has finally been able to put a stop to their long and winding run of eight matches without a win. Let us hope that Swansea can be more confident and have some better luck in the future.
